Buffalo Shoulder Mounts

Buffalo make great shoulder mounts. These are a very large animal! The fur is very dense and the animal can withstand just about any amount of cold. The skins, and I mean just the leather part of the hide, is quite thin. I think even a deer hide is thicker! This is quite amazing considering the amount of cold they have in their natural habitat out west. There are a number of animals raised on farms here in Maine. Mostly for their meat. The skin is so thin it is actually very easy to skin a buffalo out, except you have to be very careful to not cut through the hide.
I read some years ago that the Russians took a Boeing 747, refurbished it, and loaded it with American buffalo, then flew them to Russia and released them on their vast plains they have over there. I have always wondered how they made out.
I do quite a few western game animals. They all make wonderful mounts like the one above. I have close up pictures of the same buffalo below to show you how life like I make them. That's the reason they bring them to me!
